Ironhold Dominion

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Ironhold Dominion drops you into a cold frontier where you're carving out a settlement against raiders and the weather. It's a strategy game at heart: you plan the layout of your walls, balance resource production, and decide when to expand versus dig in. The tutorial is mercifully short and the systems reveal themselves naturally.

What makes it click is the defensive puzzle. Attacks come in waves, and the smart move is rarely the biggest army — it's funneling enemies through a kill zone you designed three turns ago. I lost my first major siege and immediately wanted to redesign everything, which is a good sign.

There's a competitive side with asynchronous attacks on other players' towns, but it never feels mandatory. You can play this as a solo puzzle box and get a full experience, which I appreciated.
